Christmas will always be a special time for Christy and Roy. When Roy proposed to Christy, he hid the engagement ring inside a Christmas ornament. A year later, they planned a festive winter wedding that had the perfect mixture of the season and the holiday. The vibrant red flowers and dresses contrasted beautifully with the peaceful winter snow. The twinkling lights of Christmas trees provided a warm glow at the reception.
Although Roy and Christy were in the same class at Illinois Wesleyan University, they didn't meet until after graduation while on a plane to Key West. They marveled at their "small world" connection, and the eventual choice to get married at Evelyn Chapel on campus was simple - it was a meaningful setting for them and the perfect place for old college friends to reconnect.
Special touches made the event memorable. "We had ten different program covers printed, each hand-drawn by one of my first graders," said Christy, a dedicated teacher. To honor the way they were engaged, "Our guests received different Christmas tree ornaments as favors, directing them to their table assignment," Christy said. Truly a wedding to remember, in a season of joy!
